A Long Slow Little Wave/ Citizen, an Activity – Loving

Photographer photographing a photographer

Catching sunsets on the west coast is far better than on the east coast. The southwest has been my home for the last year and a half. I have lived in AZ for most of it as well as a summer in Colorado. Since leaving NC I have traveled to many national parks, multiple national forests and a few In and Outs haha. I’ve done the most outdoor climbing in my life out here. I have camped for work and for fun. I love being outside and working with my hands. Not only have I seen a lot but I have also made great connections with people from all over the states here in Arizona.

As time moves forward I move away from my origin. Being Colombian isn’t all that I am anymore. It never really was. I feel as much American as I do Colombian. I find it difficult to love all parts of the US as well as Colombia. I find it difficult to love all parts of myself.

RIP Pollo Viajero. Cheers to your passion for travel and your love of poetry and music. You are also a reminder of the negative influences in life. Vices that we should use caution around. Our bodies are fragile and need to be nurtured. Our emotions and connections need to be tended to and cared for.

Two of my friends, DJ and Jett showed me this song. I had forgotten that one of them had shown it to me first. The soft guitar strums in the background while another guitar is plucked over a smooth baseline. The drums kick in and give the song more movement. The song title is “A Long Slow Wave”. You can definitely get that sense throughout the song. Especially at the end when a higher-pitched guitar is played can you can imagine a wave crashing.

I photographed this photographer at an SF beach. At the time I was using my a6000 and didn’t have a larger sensor size to capture low light images with better quality. That being said, this photograph has been enhanced to be brighter but at the cost of quality. I’ve had this one stored in my card for a while because of the quality. But now I realized that it won’t really matter. I still love the colors and the subject. Maybe it isn’t my best but I like it.

Thank you for reading.
